We’ve all but slayed the myth of the romantic drunk. He’s a cautionary story. They make the cover of Busted magazine in their worst condition. TMZ.

There would be no “walls of his cage” no quiet in which to rage. Chuck would blog his thoughts, his rants, his opinions, no long hand/typed letters to rescue from a hot San Pedro afternoon and recreate posthumously.
He’d curb his riskier thoughts in response to comments from his readers.
Ring tones on the bus. People talking on the phone while stuck in traffic on the 101. Bar rooms filled with people sending text messages. Thumbs ablaze.
What would propel him, if not the sound of his typewriter keys? A MacBook makes none too satisfying a sound even in the throws of a writer’s most fertile moment.
